New Development Project in Fes: Governor Maad El Jamaï Launches Construction of New Local Market in Zouagha District (Photos)

Work officially began today on the construction of a new proximity market in Tajziat Al Nasr, located in the Zouagha administrative district of Fes. The initiative, which has been warmly welcomed by residents of Hay Al Wifaq and Ain Semmen Road, was launched thanks to the personal efforts of Maad El Jamaï, Wali of the Fes-Meknes region and Governor of the Fes Prefecture.

The project comes in response to a long-standing request from local residents, who have repeatedly called for the creation of an organized commercial space in an area that has long lacked proper facilities—leading to the proliferation of informal street vending.

According to initial reports, the market is being developed by the company “Fès Aménagement” and will be built on an estimated 5,000 square meters. It is set to include organized retail areas, sanitation facilities, and a designated parking lot.

The project is expected to boost the local economy, improve shopping conditions for residents, and contribute to bringing essential services closer to the population. It also aligns with broader efforts to enhance the region’s commercial infrastructure and tackle the challenges of unregulated trade.

Local observers view the project as a long-awaited and highly welcomed initiative, highlighting the authorities’ responsiveness to the community’s needs and their commitment to balanced urban development and improved quality of life.
