The Mohammed V Sports Complex, officially opened in 1955, has always been the stage for the largest sporting events and championships hosted by the Kingdom. These modern facilities reaffirm Morocco’s status as a leading nation in the field of sports and athletes at both the African and international levels. Under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom is pursuing a highly ambitious policy to develop its sports infrastructure in preparation for hosting AFCON 2025 and the FIFA World Cup 2030, which will be jointly organized with Spain and Portugal.

This proactive policy aims to meet the stringent international standards required by FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF), while strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a prominent continental, regional, and global sports hub.

Work is currently underway to build and modernize numerous stadiums, sports complexes, and training facilities across the Kingdom to meet the most demanding international standards.

This also includes the construction project of the new Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane, the comprehensive reconstruction of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, and the expansion and modernization of the Grand Stade de Tanger in accordance with FIFA specifications.

Furthermore, work is progressing rapidly to modernize the main stadiums in the cities of Fez, Marrakech, and Agadir, first to align them with CAF’s specifications and secondly to meet FIFA’s requirements. For this second phase, technical studies have been completed, and work is scheduled to begin immediately after the conclusion of AFCON 2025.

Finally, work is also underway on the reconstruction of the Al-Barid Stadium and the Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium in the capital Rabat.
