Minister of Industry Inaugurates Modern Natural Spring Water Unit in El Hajeb: Advanced Technology and 300 Job Opportunities for Youth

On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, inaugurated a new industrial unit for the production of “Asil” natural spring water in the municipality of Lakser, El Hajeb Province, with an investment exceeding 150 million dirhams.

This project, which is part of the Bqashan Group Morocco through its subsidiary, the Moroccan Consulting Company for Global Environmental Studies (MCEG), is a new step in the group’s strategy to diversify its industrial activities and strengthen its presence in the agricultural food industries sector in Morocco.

In a press statement, Minister Mezzour explained that the project is part of national efforts to achieve food and industrial sovereignty, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. He added that the unit employs modern technology to enhance local water resources and represents the initial phase of a larger industrial project that will be expanded in the future to diversify production and market it both locally and internationally.

The unit currently produces “Asil” natural spring water, extracted from the Sebou Basin, with a production capacity of 45,000 bottles per hour, on a total area of 30 hectares, of which 2 hectares are dedicated to the factory, and 28 hectares are designated for an organic agricultural farm irrigated with treated water from the facility.

For his part, the CEO of MCEG, Hafid Aloui, highlighted the structural dimensions of the project, pointing out that it will provide nearly 300 direct and indirect job opportunities and contribute to the local and regional economic dynamism.

Aloui also emphasized the sustainability aspect of the factory, noting that 40% of its energy needs will be covered by solar power, and it will feature an environmentally innovative bottle cap system, the first of its kind in the Moroccan market. Additionally, the factory is equipped with a wastewater treatment plant, the water from which will be used for irrigating the nearby farm.

The company plans to expand its production capacity and distribution network to meet the growing demand both nationally and internationally.
