Rabat: The Public Prosecutor at the Rabat Court of Appeal has ordered the provisional detention of a chief warrant officer of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), suspected of involvement in a heinous rape case involving a minor within the walls of the Mohammed V Military Hospital in Rabat.
The shocking incident allegedly occurred inside the military hospital premises, where the 14-year-old victim was receiving medical treatment. The suspect, who was responsible for her care and worked as a head nurse, is suspected of exploiting his position and influence to lure and sexually assault the young girl.
Upon learning of the alleged incident, the victim’s family promptly turned to the judiciary. The suspect was questioned as part of the investigation into charges of “enticement of a minor, sexual harassment, indecent assault without violence, and abuse of influence.” Following this complaint, the investigating judge ordered his placement in Tamesna prison after confronting him with initial evidence suggesting his potential involvement in the crime.
The family of the minor, who hails from the city of Errachidia, had brought their daughter to the Mohammed V Military Hospital for treatment shortly after Eid Al-Fitr and decided to keep her in the medical facility before the head nurse allegedly took advantage of her vulnerability and need for care to assault her.
The first session for the detailed hearing of the suspect is scheduled for the end of this April, during which he will be confronted with the victim in the presence of her father, as part of the ongoing investigation.
