Amman – April 23, 2025 – Jordan’s Interior Minister Mazen al-Faraya announced today, Wednesday, that the kingdom has banned all activities of the Muslim Brotherhood and closed the Islamist movement’s offices within the country.
In an official statement, Minister al-Faraya said, “It has been decided to prohibit all activities of the so-called Muslim Brotherhood, and to consider any activity (on their part) as a violation of the provisions of the law,” adding that “all offices” used by the movement, “even those in partnership with other organizations,” would be closed.
This decision comes amid escalating tensions between the Jordanian government and the group, which has already been banned in the country for years. This announcement is considered an escalatory step by the Jordanian authorities towards the Islamist organization.
There has been no official comment from the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan on this decision so far.
It is worth noting that Jordanian authorities have previously taken several measures against the group, including dissolving its political wing, the Islamic Action Front, on previous occasions. This latest decision indicates a decisive move towards preventing any organizational activity of the group within the kingdom.
