Under the directives of Mr. Mohamed Samir Khmelichi, Governor of Moulay Yacoub Province, and in partnership with the Regional Delegation of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Regional Committee for Human Development, and the Isad Association, the Bourkayez Local Prison hosted a multidisciplinary medical caravan on March 18, 2025, for the benefit of male and female inmates. The medical specialties offered included general medicine, respiratory diseases, dermatology, nephrology, gynecology and obstetrics, and pediatrics.
This initiative aimed to enhance healthcare services provided to this segment of citizens and offer them the necessary support and care. A total of 614 inmates benefited from the medical services provided by the caravan across various specialties, with prescribed medications being dispensed on-site.
The humanitarian atmosphere of this initiative, infused with the spirit of Ramadan, was further enriched by the presence of the Governor of Moulay Yacoub Province, who insisted on overseeing the progress of the medical caravan and offering his support to all beneficiaries and participants.
The medical caravan successfully achieved its objectives by examining as many inmates as possible across different medical specialties, thereby saving the institution significant effort, especially with the provision of necessary medications to diagnosed cases.
The caravan, which was highly appreciated by the inmates, proceeded under excellent security and organizational conditions. Gratitude was extended to all members of the medical team for their tremendous efforts in providing support and assistance to the prison population.
