Minister Saad Barada Discusses Future Educational Reforms in Morocco at National Child Parliament Session

During the National Parliament of Children session on November 20, 2024, Minister of Education Saad Barada provided a comprehensive response to questions regarding future plans to develop education in Morocco. The inquiry came from one of the young parliamentarians, asking about ways to improve curricula and teaching methods while keeping pace with modern technological advancements.

Minister Barada emphasized that education is one of the government’s strategic priorities and is receiving significant royal attention. He stated that the government is actively implementing comprehensive reforms in this sector.

The Ministry of Education is focused on enhancing three key pillars in the educational process: students, teachers, and schools, through improvements in infrastructure, updates to teaching methods, and increased use of technology in education.

In his response, the Minister highlighted that the Ministry launched a program to renovate 600 schools in the previous year, benefiting 320,000 students. These reforms included upgrades to school buildings, such as repairs and repainting, as well as equipping classrooms with modern technological tools. He noted that these schools have seen significant improvements in the learning environment, positively impacting student performance.

One of the key improvements introduced was the widespread implementation of digital classrooms, enabling students across Morocco to access standardized lessons through the Ministry’s online platform. This initiative aims to promote educational equality among students nationwide, regardless of their location or type of school.

The Minister shared encouraging preliminary results from this initiative, noting that studies showed a significant improvement in the performance of students who benefited from digital education compared to those in traditional schools. In one study, which included 100 questions directed at students from traditional and specialized sports schools, results revealed a 50% improvement in the performance of those who received digital education.

Barada further stressed that these reforms are not limited to building infrastructure or educational tools but also focus on improving the quality of education by increasing the number of schools undergoing renovation in the coming years. In the following year, 2,000 more schools are scheduled for renovation, with the total number expected to reach 6,000 schools within three years.

These reforms aim to create a more robust educational system capable of addressing modern challenges while considering the technological advancements shaping the world, contributing to a well-rounded learning environment that will help develop students’ skills and prepare them for the future.

In conclusion, Minister Saad Barada assured that the Ministry would continue to work towards improving education in Morocco, with a commitment to ensuring transparency and ongoing monitoring of educational projects to meet the goals of reform in line with the needs of future generations.
