As part of ongoing meetings aimed at highlighting the economic and social challenges faced by Moroccan citizens, the National Consumer Protection Associations held a meeting in Agadir on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. The event was attended by Mr. Hassan Denbi, President of the National Consumer Protection Associations in Morocco.
During the meeting, Mr. Denbi delivered an important speech addressing several issues related to consumer protection and the challenges consumers face amid the current economic situation. He emphasized the importance of raising awareness about consumer rights in Moroccan society. According to Mr. Denbi, consumer protection goes beyond monitoring prices and product quality; it also involves tackling unfair trade practices and advertising deception that consumers may encounter.
Mr. Denbi noted that the relevant bodies involved in consumer protection continuously monitor the enforcement of laws related to individual rights and provide necessary support to consumers who face any violations. He stressed the need for updating local legislation to keep pace with global developments, especially in the rapidly growing e-commerce sector in Morocco.
Additionally, Mr. Denbi discussed other challenges facing Moroccan consumers, such as the continuous rise in the prices of basic goods. He called for the activation of stronger monitoring mechanisms to ensure price fairness. He highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between government agencies and civil society to foster a transparent commercial environment that protects consumers’ interests.
In conclusion, Mr. Denbi urged all stakeholders to work collectively and continuously to improve the reality of consumer protection in Morocco by enhancing legal culture and raising awareness of individual rights. Such efforts, he believes, will contribute to building a more just and transparent economic society.
