On Wednesday, the French judiciary approved the extradition of a 35-year-old Moroccan citizen named Saeed A. to the Netherlands, where he is suspected of belonging to the criminal organization known as the “Moroccan Mafia” (Mocro Maffia). Dutch authorities requested his extradition on suspicion of involvement in methamphetamine trafficking.
During a public hearing before the extradition chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal, Saeed A. agreed to his extradition to the Dutch judiciary. The actual extradition process is expected to take about ten days.
The chamber president noted that the accused faces a sentence of up to 12 years in prison in the Netherlands. Dutch Public Prosecution spokesperson Brechtje van de Moosdijk stated that the prosecution suspects Saeed A. of importing methamphetamine into the Netherlands.
Last April, Dutch police discovered more than 100 kilograms of methamphetamine in a car in a parking lot on the A58 highway near the southern Dutch city of Gilze. A 33-year-old man from Tilburg was arrested as part of this investigation.
Saeed A. was arrested on October 9 based on a European arrest warrant issued in late August by the Netherlands. He was arrested without incident while leaving a restaurant in the 18th arrondissement of Paris by the French Gendarmerie’s elite unit (GIGN).
According to French investigators, Saeed A. is known to be affiliated with the “Moroccan Mafia” based in the Netherlands and involved in drug trafficking and synthetic drug production. He is also suspected of involvement in kidnapping and torture operations in Spain.
It’s worth noting that the “Moroccan Mafia” is a criminal organization of Moroccan origin based in the Netherlands, with its main activities focused on cocaine trafficking, as well as arms trafficking and bloody score-settling.
