In the context of strengthening bilateral relations between Algeria and the United States, Algeria’s Ambassador to the U.S., Sabri Boukadoum, stated that “the sky is the limit” regarding new military plans between the two countries. This came during his discussion of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which aims to enhance military and security cooperation between Algeria and Washington.
Boukadoum also indicated that Algeria is ready to negotiate with the United States regarding its abundant natural resources and critical minerals, which are in high global demand. He further noted that the country has significant potential to host data centers at a lower cost than current options.
Although the MOU was primarily established during the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden, the Algerian ambassador expressed confidence that relations between the two countries will remain strong during President Donald Trump’s second term. Boukadoum said, “Let me say very clearly, as a foreign diplomat, we do not favor one administration over another. We work with every administration and try to present our potential to the new one. With President Trump, who has said he is in favor of deals, we will try to help the administration see the advantages of cooperating with Algeria.”
These statements come as part of Algeria’s diplomatic efforts to strengthen its relations with the United States, particularly in military and economic fields. The new MOU demonstrates the commitment of both countries to enhancing bilateral cooperation amid increasing regional and international challenges.
On the other hand, this cooperation is seen as a significant step for Algeria to bolster its position as a strategic partner for the United States in North Africa, especially given the country’s vast natural resources and significant potential in the technology and data sectors.
It is worth noting that this move is part of a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, with a focus on military, economic, and technological fields.
