Morocco is preparing to receive the first batch of American F-35 aircraft as part of a major deal that includes 32 fifth-generation aircraft. These modern jets, which were ordered by the Kingdom in 2020, will significantly enhance the Moroccan military’s ability to face regional security challenges.

The U.S. Congress, controlled by the Republican Party, is expected to approve the sale of these aircraft in the coming weeks. This development is considered part of the Abraham Accords between Morocco, the United States, and Israel, aiming to strengthen military and strategic cooperation among these parties.
This deal contributes to the enhancement of Morocco’s military capabilities as part of the Royal Plans to modernize its military equipment. The F-35, known for its advanced stealth technology, is a major addition to the military, as it can fly undetected by radar, making it one of the most powerful fighter jets in the world. The aircraft also features advanced systems that connect pilots to central command and allows for precise target identification using lasers.
The deal will also retire many older aircraft, as the F-35 outperforms existing planes in terms of performance and flight technology, while maintenance costs for the older models have become prohibitively high. The estimated cost of the deal is $17 billion, which includes the purchase and maintenance of 32 F-35 jets for 45 years.
With these aircraft, Morocco will become the only country in North Africa and the Arab world to possess such advanced jets, enhancing its military status in the region and positioning it among the leading nations with the most powerful air forces.
