Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch chaired on Tuesday a meeting of the steering committee of the National Drinking and Irrigation Water Supply Program 2020-2027.
The meeting focused on strengthening the dynamism of the program’s implementation, updating its themes to ensure the acceleration of urgent investments in the water sector, as well as examining the priorities mentioned in the royal speech on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Throne Day.
At the beginning of the meeting, Akhannouch recalled the contents of the royal speech, which outlined the major directions to face the challenges related to water management, and referred to His Majesty the King’s call to continuously update national water policies and implement projects according to the set agenda and without delay.
In line with the royal instructions, the prime minister stressed that the government is determined to ensure the optimal implementation of the national program, ensuring the achievement of its objectives with the required speed and efficiency, in line with the aspirations of His Majesty the King.
Akhannouch called on all relevant government sectors to increase the pace of water-related investments and implement them on schedule. He announced the intensification of the meetings of the leadership committee to closely follow the progress of the implementation of the various programs.
The meeting was attended by Abdelouafi Lefteit, Minister of Interior, Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, and Mohamed Siddiqui, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development.
