The Moroccan capital, Rabat, witnessed a significant event on Saturday with the inauguration of the permanent exhibition of the Al-Quds Committee, affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The opening took place at the headquarters of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, coinciding with Morocco’s celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Glorious Throne Day.
The exhibition is characterized by its diverse content, featuring two main sections: Moroccan and Palestinian. It also includes three photo galleries documenting the historical milestones of the Al-Quds Committee, the achievements of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, and photos chronicling the historic visit of the late King Mohammed V to Jordan, Palestine, and Jerusalem in 1960.
Among the exhibition’s highlights are royal letters addressed to the management of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, as well as valuable documents and artifacts donated by national institutions and individuals. A special wing is dedicated to Palestinian heritage, showcasing traditional women’s costumes, pottery and copper products, jewelry, and embroideries that symbolize Palestinian identity, along with ceramic and artistic paintings reflecting the history and civilization of Palestine.
In his speech at the event, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, the Acting Director of the Agency, emphasized the ongoing work of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency under the direct supervision of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee. He highlighted the humanitarian efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco to support Gaza and Jerusalem.
Ghada Al-Tirawi, Counselor at the Embassy of Palestine in Morocco, praised the importance of the exhibition in bridging the past and present, displaying historical Palestinian artifacts, and documenting the journey of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency.
The opening ceremony included honoring Ambassador Moulay El Mehdi Alaoui, the Agency’s Diplomatic Advisor, and commemorating the late Deputy Director-General of the Agency, Reda Ata Abbas, who recently passed away. The event concluded with a short video highlighting the Agency’s activities and achievements over a quarter of a century.
The inauguration was attended by several prominent figures, including the High Commissioner for Veterans and Members of the Liberation Army, ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Kingdom, and representatives of international organizations. Following the official opening ceremony, attendees toured the exhibition’s wings.
This event underscores Morocco’s continued commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Jerusalem, while also showcasing the Kingdom’s diplomatic efforts in this realm over the past 25 years.
