The Spanish government led by Pedro Sanchez has begun preparations to receive King Mohammed VI in Madrid, on the occasion of the announcement that Morocco, Spain and Portugal will host the 2030 World Cup, according to Oc Diario.
According to diplomatic information, coordination between the two countries is underway to arrange a Moroccan royal visit to Spain, where the Spanish royal palace under King Felipe VI will be the host of King Mohammed VI.
According to Oc Diario, the Sanchez government is seeking to reactivate bilateral relations between the two countries after years of tension, and an official invitation has been sent to Rabat in coordination with the relevant authorities in the Spanish government to prepare for this visit.
Spanish diplomatic sources indicate that this invitation is an important step in strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries, especially after recent events in bilateral relations, including the visit of Ibrahim Ghali, leader of the Polisario Front, to Spain.
The potential visit of King Mohammed VI to Madrid comes as a sign of full reconciliation between the two countries and strengthens joint efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, according to the same sources.
King Mohammed VI’s last official visit to Europe was in 2018 to Paris, and he visited Berlin and Madrid in 2005 on the occasion of the anniversary of the March 11 bombings.
This highly anticipated move by King Mohammed VI could strengthen Spanish-Moroccan relations and open new horizons for future cooperation between the two countries.
