King Mohammed VI to Preside Tomorrow Over Opening of New Legislative Year and Address Parliament

Rabat – His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, will preside tomorrow, Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Parliament headquarters, over the opening of the first session of the first year of the twelfth legislative term, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery.

The statement explained that His Majesty the King will preside over the ceremony marking the opening of the first session of the first year of the twelfth legislative term on Friday, 27 Rabii II 1448 AH, corresponding to October 9, 2026, at the Parliament headquarters.

On this occasion, His Majesty King Mohammed VI will deliver a speech before the members of both chambers of Parliament, the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors, as part of the opening of the new legislative year.

The royal speech will be broadcast live on radio and television, starting at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026.

The opening of this legislative year comes at the beginning of the twelfth legislative term, marking the start of a new phase of parliamentary work in both the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors.

The opening of the parliamentary session, in accordance with constitutional provisions, constitutes an occasion during which His Majesty the King addresses the members of Parliament, in the presence of the representatives of the Nation in both chambers.

Accordingly, attention is expected to turn tomorrow Friday afternoon to the Parliament headquarters in Rabat to follow the opening ceremony and the royal speech, which will be broadcast live on radio and television.


Le Roi Mohammed VI présidera demain l’ouverture de la nouvelle année législative et prononcera un discours devant le Parlement

Rabat – Sa Majesté le Roi Mohammed VI, que Dieu L’assiste, présidera demain vendredi 9 octobre 2026, au siège du Parlement, l’ouverture de la première session de la première année de la douzième législature, selon un communiqué du ministère de la Maison Royale, du Protocole et de la Chancellerie.

Le communiqué précise que Sa Majesté le Roi présidera la cérémonie d’ouverture de la première session de la première année de la douzième législature, le vendredi 27 Rabii II 1448 H, correspondant au 9 octobre 2026, au siège du Parlement.

À cette occasion, Sa Majesté le Roi Mohammed VI prononcera un discours devant les membres des deux Chambres du Parlement, la Chambre des représentants et la Chambre des conseillers, dans le cadre de l’ouverture de la nouvelle année législative.

Le discours royal sera retransmis en direct à la radio et à la télévision, à partir de 15h45 le vendredi 9 octobre 2026.

L’ouverture de cette année législative intervient au début de la douzième législature, qui marque le lancement d’une nouvelle étape du travail parlementaire au sein des deux Chambres, la Chambre des représentants et la Chambre des conseillers.

L’ouverture de la session parlementaire constitue, conformément aux dispositions constitutionnelles, une occasion au cours de laquelle Sa Majesté le Roi adresse un discours aux membres du Parlement, en présence des représentants de la Nation dans les deux Chambres.

Ainsi, les regards devraient se tourner, demain vendredi après-midi, vers le siège du Parlement à Rabat pour suivre la cérémonie d’ouverture et le discours royal, qui sera retransmis en direct à la radio et à la télévision.
