Rabat – Abdelilah Benkirane, Secretary-General of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), confirmed that the upcoming meeting with Fatima Zahra Mansouri, the designated head of government tasked with forming the next government, will not change the party’s position regarding its decision to join the opposition.
Benkirane explained that Mansouri had taken the initiative to request the meeting, considering that communicating with her falls within the institutional process, at a time when the extraordinary National Council of the Justice and Development Party had previously unanimously approved the decision not to participate in the next government and to position itself in the opposition.
The PJD secretary-general stressed that the party’s institutions had settled their position on participation in the government, emphasizing that the decision is to exercise institutional opposition, following discussions on the political situation resulting from the latest legislative elections.
Benkirane’s position comes as consultations to form the new government, led by the Authenticity and Modernity Party, have begun. Fatima Zahra Mansouri has started holding meetings with a number of political parties as part of efforts to form the next government majority.
Benkirane had previously agreed to hold a meeting with Mansouri following a phone call between the two sides. However, subsequent developments revealed a disagreement over the venue of the meeting, after Benkirane stated that he would not go to the headquarters of the Authenticity and Modernity Party to hold the meeting.
Meanwhile, Mansouri is continuing her consultations with various political parties, amid differing positions on participation in the next government. Some parties have announced their readiness for dialogue, while the Justice and Development Party has settled on a position in favor of the opposition.

Rabat – Abdelilah Benkirane, secrétaire général du Parti de la justice et du développement (PJD), a confirmé que la rencontre prévue avec Fatima Zahra Mansouri, cheffe du gouvernement désignée et chargée de former le prochain gouvernement, ne modifiera pas la décision du parti concernant son positionnement dans l’opposition.
Benkirane a expliqué que Mansouri avait pris l’initiative de demander cette rencontre, considérant que la communication avec elle s’inscrit dans le cadre institutionnel, alors que le Conseil national extraordinaire du Parti de la justice et du développement avait auparavant approuvé à l’unanimité la décision de ne pas participer au prochain gouvernement et de rejoindre l’opposition.
Le secrétaire général du « PJD » a souligné que les instances du parti avaient définitivement tranché sa position concernant la participation au gouvernement, précisant que la décision consiste à exercer une opposition institutionnelle, après l’examen de la situation politique issue des dernières élections législatives.
La position de Benkirane intervient alors que les consultations pour la formation du nouveau gouvernement, dirigé par le Parti de l’authenticité et de la modernité, ont commencé. Fatima Zahra Mansouri a ainsi entamé des rencontres avec plusieurs partis politiques dans le cadre des efforts visant à former la prochaine majorité gouvernementale.
Benkirane avait auparavant accepté de tenir une rencontre de communication avec Mansouri à la suite d’un échange téléphonique entre les deux parties. Toutefois, les développements ultérieurs ont révélé un désaccord concernant le lieu de la rencontre, Benkirane ayant affirmé qu’il ne se rendrait pas au siège du Parti de l’authenticité et de la modernité pour tenir la réunion.
Parallèlement, Mansouri poursuit ses consultations avec les différents partis, sur fond de positions divergentes concernant la participation au prochain gouvernement. Certains partis ont annoncé leur disposition à dialoguer, tandis que le Parti de la justice et du développement a arrêté sa position en faveur de l’opposition.
