Legislative elections.. Interior Ministry sends inspection committee to Tangier to investigate irregularities at two polling stations

Rabat – The Ministry of the Interior has decided to open an administrative investigation into irregularities recorded during the electoral process at two polling stations in the Tangier-Assilah electoral constituency, during the legislative elections held on September 23, 2026.

In a statement, the ministry said it had dispatched a central inspection committee to the city of Tangier to examine the circumstances surrounding the reported incidents, verify the data and elements related to them, and establish the precise conditions under which they occurred.

The ministry explained that the decision to open the investigation followed “irregularities affecting the electoral process” at the two polling stations concerned. The committee will be responsible for conducting the necessary administrative investigations and examining the various information and elements related to the recorded incidents.

According to the Ministry of the Interior’s statement, the findings of the investigation will serve as the basis for taking “all necessary administrative measures and steps to determine legal responsibilities,” while the ministry has not, at this stage, announced any final conclusions regarding responsibility or the nature of any measures that may result from the investigation.

The investigation comes in the context of the legislative elections of September 23, 2026, following the recording of incidents related to the conduct of the electoral process in several cases that required the intervention of the competent authorities to establish their circumstances.

The responsibilities and administrative and legal consequences associated with the incidents under investigation remain dependent on the conclusions reached by the central inspection committee after completing its mission.
