Morocco – Officers from the Regional Judicial Police Service in the city of Oujda arrested a 25-year-old Dutch national on the evening of Thursday, August 6, who was residing illegally in Morocco and was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the Dutch judicial authorities for alleged involvement in organized crime.
In an official statement, Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) said that a check through the INTERPOL database revealed that the suspect was wanted under a Red Notice issued at the request of the National Central Bureau in The Hague, on suspicion of involvement in a criminal case related to drug trafficking, unlawful detention, and acts of violence carried out as part of the activities of a criminal network.
The same source added that the arrest and search operation resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cannabis resin (hashish) found in the suspect’s possession. He was subsequently placed in police custody pending a judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office as part of the investigation into drug possession.
In the same context, the National Central Bureau – INTERPOL Rabat, operating under the General Directorate of National Security, was tasked with notifying its counterpart in The Hague of the arrest in order to initiate the judicial and security cooperation procedures applicable in such cases.
According to the General Directorate of National Security, this operation forms part of Morocco’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international security cooperation and enhance coordination with foreign law enforcement agencies in tracking and apprehending individuals wanted internationally for transnational crimes.
