Achraf Hakimi Nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or in a Historic Season for Paris Saint-Germain

France Football magazine has announced the list of 30 players nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, featuring an unprecedented nine players from Paris Saint-Germain, matching the record set by Real Madrid in 2018.

This reflects an exceptional season for the Parisian club, which won the Champions League, Ligue 1, the French Cup, and the Trophée des Champions, asserting its dominance both domestically and continentally.

Among the PSG players nominated is Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi, who played 63 matches this season, scoring 13 goals and providing 15 assists, earning his first-ever Ballon d’Or nomination in recognition of his pivotal contribution to the team’s successes.

The list includes players from all positions—goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards—highlighting the depth and diversity of the PSG squad.

Alongside Hakimi, his teammates Ousmane Dembélé, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Juan Neves, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Désiré Doué were nominated. Other major international stars include Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), and Erling Haaland (Manchester City).

Hakimi Breaks Records
Achraf Hakimi set a new record for offensive contributions in a single season, surpassing Dani Alves, with 31 direct contributions (goals plus assists) across all competitions—an unprecedented achievement for a full-back.

The Atlas Lion has never hidden his admiration for Dani Alves, whom he regards as one of the greatest full-backs in football history. Yet, at just 26 years old, Hakimi has surpassed his idol by establishing a historic offensive record for a defender.

During PSG’s victory over Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, Hakimi provided a crucial assist that helped secure his team’s qualification.

This feat brought his total direct contributions with PSG this season to 26 (goals and assists), surpassing Alves’s 25 contributions during the 2010-2011 season with Barcelona. But Hakimi’s achievements did not stop there.

An Unprecedented Total of 31 Offensive Contributions
Including his performances with the Moroccan national team, the former Inter Milan player has now reached 31 offensive contributions this season (15 goals and 16 assists), a total never before reached by a full-back in modern football history. Legends like Cafu, Marcelo, Roberto Carlos, and even Dani Alves never matched such an offensive output in a single season.

Fierce Competition
Several players are nominated for the first time this year, including Dembélé, Raphinha, and Scott McTominay, making the race for the 2025 Ballon d’Or highly open.

The winner will be announced on September 22 in Paris, during an official ceremony that, for the first time, will feature an equal number of male and female nominees across all categories, marking a significant step toward equality in world football.
