Ministry of National Education Reviews “Pioneering Schools” Progress and Private Education File Before Parliament

The Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports presented a comprehensive overview before the Education, Culture, and Communication Committee of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. The presentation covered the progress of the “Pioneering Schools” program and the current state of private education.

The presentation revealed the expansion of the “Pioneering Schools” program to include 2,626 educational institutions during the 2024-2025 academic year, benefiting over 1.3 million students, supervised by 44,000 teachers and 560 accompanying inspectors.

Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in student performance, with core subjects (Arabic, French, and Mathematics) recording progress ranging between 12% and 31% compared to schools not participating in the program.

Regarding secondary education, the program includes 232 middle schools with 200,000 students, representing 10% of middle school students, supervised by 6,000 teachers and 600 accompanying inspectors.

Concerning private education, the presentation revealed that the sector comprises 7,564 educational institutions accommodating 1,223,508 students. Updates on Draft Law 59.21 related to private school education were reviewed, including new regulations for determining tuition fees and preventing their increase during the academic year, along with the mandatory conclusion of contracts with parents.
