Princess Lalla Hasnaa and Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani presided over an exceptional event titled “Caftan Fashion Show” on Wednesday at Dar Al-Maghrib in Doha, Qatar. This prominent event was part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Cultural Year celebrations, showcasing the uniqueness and excellence of authentic Moroccan fashion.
Celebrating Tradition and Modernity
The show highlighted the creations of ten Moroccan caftan designers who successfully blended Morocco’s rich heritage with modern touches. Drawing inspiration from love poetry and Arabic calligraphy, the show emphasized the beauty of the Moroccan caftan as a symbol of timeless elegance.
Prominent designers participating in this event included Amina Benmousa, Yasmina Benyahya, Frédéric Berkmeer, Meriem Bouafi, Dar Sara Chraibi, Najlae Diouri, Zainab Joundy, Fawzia Naciri, Albert Oiknine, and Houda Serbouti. Their works presented a dazzling image of Moroccan traditional craftsmanship that combines creativity and authenticity.

The event was distinguished by the presence of prominent figures from the worlds of diplomacy, culture, economy, and society. The show also featured musical performances reflecting the richness and diversity of Moroccan musical heritage. Upon her arrival at Dar Al-Maghrib, Princess Lalla Hasnaa was received by several prominent Qatari figures, including Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Doha University for Science and Technology, Hessa Sultan Al-Jaber, Vice Chairman of Es’hailSat, Sheikh Hassan bin Mohammed Al Thani, Cultural Advisor at Qatar Foundation, and Sheikh Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Chairman of Ahli Bank and Director of the Museum of Islamic Art.
Several Moroccan dignitaries involved in organizing the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Cultural Year also greeted the Princess and Sheikha Al Mayassa, including Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohammed Setri, Morocco’s Ambassador to Doha, and Adel El Fakir, General Director of the National Airports Office and General Delegate for the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Cultural Year.

This event is part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Cultural Year, which aims to strengthen historical and cultural ties between the Moroccan and Qatari peoples under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. This joint initiative embodies the depth of fraternal relations between the two countries and seeks to highlight the rich cultural heritage of both sides.
