On Sunday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in the capital Cairo, as part of a broader Arab tour undertaken by the Algerian leader that also includes the Sultanate of Oman.
The Algerian Presidency stated that “the visits to Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman come within the framework of strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation” between the countries, without providing any details about the duration of the visits or their agendas.
For its part, the Egyptian Presidency mentioned that “President El-Sisi received President Tebboune at Cairo International Airport”, without providing further information.
President Tebboune’s visit to Egypt is his second, following a previous one in January 2022. It also marks the first foreign visit by the Algerian President since his re-election last September for a second five-year term.
With President Tebboune’s arrival in the Sultanate of Oman, this will be the first-ever visit by an Algerian president to the Sultanate.
