Who is Ezzeddine Midaoui: The Academic Who Will Lead the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation

Ezzeddine Midaoui, a prominent Moroccan academic, has been appointed as the new Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation. Midaoui is well-known for his role as president of Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra since 2014, where he has led numerous distinguished research projects, particularly in the field of water desalination. His appointment as successor to Abdellatif Miraoui is considered a significant step in advancing higher education and scientific research in Morocco.

Midaoui, who is also a member of the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, has made substantial contributions to developing scientific research in the Kingdom. He successfully secured 34 research contracts and agreements, attracting funding worth 15 million dirhams. Additionally, he has obtained two international patents and has been honored with numerous awards in recognition of his effective partnerships between universities and the private sector.

According to observers, this appointment reflects a new vision for Morocco’s higher education sector, with Midaoui expected to strengthen innovation and scientific development in university and research institutions.
