Former minister Damien Abbad, accused of sexual violence by three women, was placed under investigation in Paris on Thursday for allegedly attempting to rape one of them in 2010, AFP learnt from a source close to the case.
The lawmaker from the Ain region (related to the Ennahda party) has been placed under the most favourable witness status for the other two women who accuse him of raping them in 2010 and 2011. In a statement sent to AFP, the politician said he had ‘no doubt’ that his ‘innocence’ would be ‘confirmed at the end’ of the investigations.
