Boulemane – The Governor of Boulemane Province, Allal El Baz, on Tuesday inaugurated a new engineering structure on National Road No. 15, at kilometer point 292+800 in the Kssabi area toward Midelt. The project, valued at approximately MAD 7.5 million, aims to reinforce road infrastructure, improve road safety, and reduce traffic disruptions during periods of heavy rainfall and flooding.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Provincial Director of Equipment and Transport, Saif Eddine Samouni, along with several technical officials from the Ministry of Equipment and Water, including Haddou Ayach, Head of the Studies Department and project supervisor, who presented the project’s technical features and objectives.
The construction is scheduled to be completed within 12 months as part of a broader program designed to upgrade the national road network, improve traffic flow, and enhance road safety across key transport corridors in Boulemane Province.
Given its strategic location on National Road No. 15, the structure is expected to significantly reduce road closures during heavy rainfall by increasing stormwater drainage capacity. This will help ensure uninterrupted travel between the provinces of Boulemane and Midelt toward Morocco’s southeastern regions while reducing flood-related risks.
The project forms part of ongoing investments in essential infrastructure aimed at promoting regional development, reducing isolation in remote areas, improving transport services, and strengthening road safety throughout the province.
Meanwhile, local stakeholders and road users continue to call for the accelerated rehabilitation of several engineering structures along National Road No. 29, particularly the bridges of Aït Makhlouf (Imouzzer Marmoucha), Tabainout (Sraghna Commune), and Arriara–Ich Igider (Mers Commune), which are frequently affected by heavy rainfall and flooding.
