Paris – La France a annoncé l’interdiction d’entrée sur son territoire du ministre israélien des Finances Bezalel Smotrich, en raison de ses positions liées à la colonisation en Cisjordanie et à des appels associés à la réimplantation dans la bande de Gaza, selon le ministre français des Affaires étrangères Jean-Noël Barrot.
Barrot a expliqué que cette décision intervient en raison de positions jugées incompatibles avec les efforts internationaux visant à soutenir la solution à deux États, soulignant que Smotrich soutient l’expansion des colonies en Cisjordanie et adopte des positions ayant suscité de vives critiques au sein de la communauté internationale.
Smotrich devient ainsi le deuxième membre du gouvernement israélien à faire l’objet de mesures similaires de la part de Paris, après le ministre de la Sécurité nationale Itamar Ben Gvir, qui avait déjà été interdit d’entrée sur le territoire français.
Le ministre français des Affaires étrangères a également annoncé que la France, en coordination avec le Royaume-Uni, le Canada, l’Australie, la Nouvelle-Zélande et la Norvège, a pris de nouvelles mesures visant des personnes liées à l’expansion des colonies et aux actes de violence en Cisjordanie, sans fournir de détails supplémentaires sur la nature des sanctions ni sur l’identité de toutes les personnes concernées.
Ces mesures incluent également l’interdiction d’entrée sur le territoire français pour quatre responsables d’organisations de colonisation et 21 colons, selon des déclarations officielles.
Cette évolution intervient dans un contexte de tensions persistantes liées au conflit israélo-palestinien et de débats internationaux croissants sur la colonisation et l’avenir du processus politique, alors que plusieurs pays occidentaux continuent de soutenir la solution à deux États comme cadre de règlement du conflit.
La Israel et plusieurs pays occidentaux avaient déjà annoncé l’année dernière des mesures similaires contre des responsables israéliens, estimant que certaines déclarations et positions étaient contraires aux efforts visant à réduire les tensions et à promouvoir une solution politique.

Paris – France has announced a ban on entry into its territory for Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, due to his positions regarding settlement activity in the West Bank and calls related to re-establishing settlements in the Gaza Strip, according to French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
Barrot explained that the decision comes as a result of positions deemed incompatible with international efforts supporting the two-state solution, noting that Smotrich supports the expansion of settlements in the West Bank and holds views that have drawn widespread criticism within the international community.
Smotrich is now the second member of the Israeli government to face similar measures from Paris, after National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who had already been banned from entering French territory.
The French Foreign Minister also announced that France, in coordination with the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Norway, has taken new measures targeting individuals linked to settlement expansion and acts of violence in the West Bank, without providing further details on the nature of the sanctions or the identities of all those concerned.
The measures also include bans on entry into France for four officials from settlement-related organizations and 21 settlers, according to official statements.
This development comes amid ongoing tensions related to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict and increasing international debate over settlement activity and the future of the political process, as several Western countries continue to support the two-state solution as the framework for resolving the conflict.
Israel and several Western countries had already announced similar measures last year against Israeli officials, arguing that certain statements and positions were incompatible with efforts to reduce tensions and promote a political settlement.
