Washington – A U.S. legislative proposal seeking to designate the Polisario Front as a Foreign Terrorist Organization continues to gain momentum in Congress, following the decision of Texas Democratic Representative Marc Veasey to join the list of supporters of the initiative known as the “Polisario Front Terrorist Designation Act” (H.R. 4119).
The bill calls on the United States Department of State to begin the legal review process required to determine whether the Polisario Front should be classified as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. The move reflects growing bipartisan support for the proposal within both the Republican and Democratic parties.
Marc Veasey’s endorsement represents a new development in the progress of the bill, which has already secured support from several members of Congress from both political parties. Among them is Democratic Representative Jimmy Panetta, alongside a number of Republican lawmakers active in the fields of national security, defense, and foreign affairs.
