The provincial and local offices in Taounate of the National Health Union, affiliated with the Moroccan Labor Union (UMT), announced a 48-hour sit-in, according to a circulating protest statement issued by the union body. The sit-in is scheduled for January 8–9, 2026, starting at 8:00 a.m.
In the statement, the union said the protest step comes in response to what it described as a “pattern of administrative pressure/constraints,” and to concerns related to the management of several files within the province’s health sector. The union argued that the current situation is affecting “professional and social stability within the public health facility.”
The document also lists several points the union said are of concern, including issues related to staff transfers and appointments, the implementation of previous minutes/agreements, and what it described as shortcomings in human resources management and the distribution of travel allowances, in addition to other remarks linked to work organization in certain departments—“as stated in the union’s statement.”
The union concluded by reaffirming its commitment to the protest action, holding the administrative authorities responsible for the consequences of what it described as the continuation of “this situation,” and attaching union slogans calling for “fairness” and for “safeguarding the dignity of health workers.”
