Fes – Exclusive
The National Caravan Against Digital Violence Targeting Women and Girls arrived yesterday, Sunday, December 7, 2025, in the city of Fes for an important regional stop, under the slogan:
“Digital Violence Against Women and Girls… A Silent Digital Pandemic.”
This awareness caravan is organized by the Regional Directorate of the National Council in partnership with the National Human Rights Council, the Solidarity Hands Association, the Regional Delegation of Islamic Affairs, and several women’s and youth associations in the Fes–Meknes region.
Rich and Interactive Program
At Florence Square (in front of the Multimedia Library of Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University), the following activities were held:
- Interactive workshops on forms of digital violence (cyberbullying, sexual extortion, sharing intimate images without consent, defamation, harassment via platforms).
- Short theatrical performances portraying real cases of victims of sexual extortion online.
- Live testimonies from survivors of digital violence.
- Distribution of a practical guide titled “How to Protect Yourself from Digital Violence?” in Arabic and Amazigh.
A dedicated space was also provided for free legal and psychological consultations, in cooperation with units caring for women and children victims of violence within courts and hospitals.
Concerning Figures in the Fes–Meknes Region
The regional coordinator of the caravan revealed that:
- More than 68% of girls and women in the region have been subjected to some form of online harassment or bullying during the past two years.
- The reporting rate does not exceed 12%, due to fear of social stigma or lack of trust in electronic complaint platforms.
Key Messages Directed to Youth and Families
- Digital violence is a crime punishable under Law 103.13 (penalties of up to 5 years imprisonment and a fine of 50,000 MAD).
- Do not share any photo or video without the consent of the owner.
- If you experience extortion: do not pay, keep the evidence, and report immediately via the toll-free number 0800004747 or through the “We Are All With You” platform affiliated with the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The events concluded with the signing of a regional charter of honor against digital violence by civil society associations, local authorities, and representatives of education and youth sectors.
The caravan will continue in the coming days to the cities of Meknes, Taza, Taounate, Sefrou, and Boulemane, as part of a national campaign running throughout December 2025.
