Fes – Night of Wednesday, December 3, 2025
In conjunction with temperatures dropping to record levels in the city of Fes (reaching 2 degrees Celsius at night), local authorities in Zouagha district implemented a proactive humanitarian field campaign to rescue homeless people and those without shelter from the dangers of extreme cold.
The campaign was led personally by the head of the Al Omra administrative annex, accompanied by auxiliary forces personnel and authority agents, who patrolled the streets and alleys of the Al Omra territorial district searching for anyone sleeping outdoors.
During the campaign, which continued until late hours of the night:
- All discovered homeless individuals were transported to a temporary shelter center specially equipped for this purpose.
- Warm beds and woolen blankets were provided.
- Daily hot meals (dinner and breakfast) and hot tea were served.
- Initial medical support was provided for cases requiring it.
Residents of the Zouagha and Al Omra neighborhoods praised this humanitarian initiative, with many citizens and activists on social media considering it “a noble and responsible step that protects lives under harsh climatic conditions.” Some also called for extending these campaigns to other Fes districts and continuing them throughout the winter season.
It should be noted that the city of Fes has been experiencing a severe cold wave since the beginning of the week accompanied by heavy rainfall, which has increased the suffering of people in vulnerable situations.
