Fez – November 27, 2025
In a scene that repeats daily without interruption, the sidewalks of Mohammed V Avenue, Slaoui Street, and the area around Marché Central have turned into an open random parking lot, where cars completely block passageways and occupy the sidewalk, forcing pedestrians – including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities – to walk in the middle of the road, risking their lives.
Circulated images clearly show:
- Cars completely parked on the sidewalk
- Total closure of pedestrian walkways
- Complete obstruction of pedestrian movement on the city’s busiest streets
Despite the fact that these points are under continuous surveillance by security cameras, and the presence of traffic police patrols, the absence of immediate intervention and tow trucks (la fourrière) raises major questions among residents:
How long will this chaos continue? Why are violations and towing not implemented daily and regularly? When will discipline be restored to these central streets?
Fez residents call on the responsible authorities (Regional Governorate, Fez Municipality, General Directorate of National Security) for urgent and strict intervention including:
- Intensification of traffic police patrols
- Daily activation of tow trucks at these points
- Implementation of deterrent fines without exception
- Complete liberation of sidewalks for the benefit of pedestrians
Citizens should not be forced to risk their lives daily just to move around their own city!
