Fez: Failure of “Gen Z” Group’s Protest Calls Despite Intense Digital Mobilization

The unauthorized protest calls launched by groups known as “Gen Z” in the city of Fez on Sunday, October 5, 2025, failed to materialize, with no visible response on the streets despite widespread dissemination on the Discord platform.

This complete absence of demonstrators on the ground contrasts sharply with the rapid growth in the number of members in these digital groups, which number in the tens of thousands, revealing a clear gap between virtual mobilization and the ability to convert it into actual physical movement. It is worth noting that Fez had witnessed earlier arrests of participants in similar protests.

Monitoring shows that the organizers of these digital groups impose strict technical restrictions on conversations, including banning certain words and phrases, particularly those related to respecting the kingdom’s core values, in an effort to steer public discourse and prevent any opinions that do not align with their agendas.
