Fez/Professor and researcher Rachid Masrour wins an international medal in the field of advanced materials and gives a lecture in Stockholm

FES – In a new milestone for Moroccan scientific achievements on the international stage, Professor Rachid Masrour from the Faculty of Sciences Dhar El Mehraz at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University (USMBA) in Fez has been awarded the World Medal in the Mid-Career category by the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS) for 2025. This prestigious honor recognizes his outstanding and multidisciplinary contributions to the fields of photovoltaic energy and optoelectronics.

Professor Masrour stands as one of the leading researchers in renewable energies, photovoltaic technologies, and optoelectronics. He is renowned for his significant role in developing and studying advanced materials targeted for critical applications in the energy and communications sectors. The value of his scientific output is underscored by the publication of over 500 research articles indexed in the Scopus database, solidifying his reputation as a distinguished academic reference and a trusted source in international scientific circles.

This latest medal is not Professor Masrour ‘s first major international recognition. In 2022, he was awarded another prestigious international medal in spintronics, acknowledging his pioneering work in that advanced field.

To mark the occasion of receiving this latest accolade, Professor Masrour delivered a prominent scientific lecture at the 65th General Assembly of the International Conference on Advanced Materials, held in Stockholm, Sweden, from August 18 to 20, 2025. The lecture provided a platform to share his latest research findings and vision with an elite gathering of global scientists and experts.

This series of international accolades, culminating in the IUMRS World Medal, firmly establishes Professor Rachid Masrour as a pioneering Moroccan scientist. His work actively contributes to advancing knowledge and fostering international scientific collaboration in some of today’s most critical research areas, particularly those focused on addressing global energy and technology challenges.
