The city of Fez, the spiritual and cultural tourism capital of the Kingdom, experienced outstanding tourism performance during the first half of this year. The National Tourism Observatory revealed that overnight stays in various classified tourist accommodation establishments in the city recorded a notable increase of 16% by the end of June.
The observatory stated that the city welcomed 525,992 overnight stays during the first six months of 2025, compared to 452,660 overnight stays during the same period in 2024. The occupancy rate in Fez’s tourist establishments also rose to 44%, compared to 40% last year.
Thanks to these results, Fez maintained its position as the fifth most visited tourist destination nationally, following major cities such as Marrakech, Agadir, Casablanca, and Tangier.
Although a significant increase was recorded in the first half of the year, June witnessed more moderate growth, with overnight stays rising by 2% to 64,791 nights compared to 63,644 in the same month last year, maintaining a stable occupancy rate of 34%.
At the national level, the observatory confirmed that the tourism sector continues to recover, with a 9% increase in total overnight stays in classified tourist establishments in June alone. This brought the total overnight stays in Morocco to more than 14.3 million nights by the end of June 2025, representing a 13% increase compared to last year.
