Cannabis Cooperatives Intend to Petition to Define Cultivation Areas and Exclude Taounate Province

Informed sources have revealed that cannabis farmers in the Sanhaja and Ghomara tribes are preparing to hold a meeting in early September of next month. The goal is to draft a petition addressed to the Director General of the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis, Mohamed Krouj.

The petition aims to call for the redefinition of the areas permitted for the cultivation of regulated “kif” (cannabis), while excluding regions that do not belong to these tribes, such as Taounate Province. This is especially relevant as its agricultural land is considered suitable for other crops.

A professional source, who heads two cannabis cultivation cooperatives, confirmed that the meeting will discuss the demand to redefine the areas designated for cultivation. The objective is to ensure that regulation is limited to the historical regions for growing this plant, which would serve the interests of local farmers.
