Media sources have revealed the commencement of extensive restoration and maintenance works at the Algerian embassy located in the heart of Morocco’s capital, Rabat. The embassy has remained closed since Algeria announced its decision to sever diplomatic relations with Morocco in the summer of 2021.
According to the same sources, the works began about a week ago and include repairs to the building’s facade, repainting of walls, and cleaning of internal spaces, all being carried out at an accelerated pace.
The start of these restoration efforts also came following a visit by Masad Boulos, advisor to former US President Donald Trump, to Algeria in late July 2025. During this visit, strategic talks were held aimed at strengthening the shared priorities between the United States and Algeria. The meetings reaffirmed the importance of resolving regional disputes and enhancing stability in the North African region. This visit is part of growing international efforts to speed up the resolution of disagreements between Morocco and Algeria in a way that serves the entire region.
These developments also follow the Throne Day speech in which His Majesty King Mohammed VI reiterated the policy of an outstretched hand towards the Algerian brothers, expressing a serious desire to conclusively resolve the disputes between the two countries in a manner that preserves the dignity of all parties and strengthens bonds of brotherhood and mutual respect.
