Iranian media reported that a missile salvo carrying 100 warheads has been launched toward Israel.
The past hours have witnessed a sharp escalation in the confrontation between Iran and Israel. On Saturday evening, Tasnim News Agency announced that Iranian air defenses intercepted hostile targets in several regions, including Tehran, Hormozgan, Kermanshah, and West Azerbaijan, in addition to intercepting a group of drones at the Tabriz base. Fars News Agency also reported that Iranian air defenses intercepted small drones in the southern city of Bandar Abbas.
Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that the Israeli Air Force began launching a new wave of airstrikes on targets inside Iranian territory, marking a new escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two sides. Iranian state television confirmed on Saturday evening the expectation of “violent and destructive attacks” against Israel within the coming hours, raising fears of a wider escalation that could threaten regional stability.
This escalation follows a large-scale Israeli airstrike early Friday targeting critical Iranian nuclear facilities and military sites, including the Natanz nuclear site and Revolutionary Guard headquarters in Tehran and Isfahan. The strikes resulted in the deaths of Revolutionary Guard Commander Hossein Salami, Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri, and several nuclear scientists. Iran responded by launching waves of ballistic missiles and drones toward Israel, a move described by Tel Aviv as a declaration of war.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed that Israel delivered a “substantial blow” to Iran’s nuclear program, emphasizing that Israeli Air Force jets will soon fly over Tehran’s skies and that Israel will target every site and objective linked to the Iranian regime.
Amid these rapidly unfolding developments, Axios quoted a White House official saying, “We cannot prevent what will happen today,” referring to the escalating confrontation between the two countries.
Air clashes between Iran and Israel continue amid international warnings of a potential full-scale conflict, as both sides exchange air and missile strikes causing human and material losses, further intensifying tensions in the Middle East.
