In recent days, the road linking the Bouyaaqoubat and Zitoune neighborhoods in the city of Sefrou is witnessing the final touches of its rehabilitation project, following many years of deterioration that had long sparked residents’ discontent.
The road, which had suffered from potholes and erosion, had seen only limited interventions and patchwork fixes over the past years — none of which met residents’ expectations. It had become a daily source of suffering, especially during the winter, when it would turn into a muddy and impassable track.
The initial phase of the rehabilitation work began months ago, as part of an infrastructure development program targeting several marginalized neighborhoods in Sefrou.
Local actors responded positively to the project, considering that rehabilitating this road segment will help lift isolation for many families, improve living conditions, and promote smoother movement between different parts of the city.
Work is expected to be completed in the coming days. Local authorities and technical services are committed to ensuring quality execution and adherence to safety standards, with the aim of adopting this model in the rehabilitation of other neglected roadways within the city.
