Security forces in Souk Sebt Oulad Nemma, part of the Fqih Ben Salah province, successfully arrested a man in his fifties on charges of possessing a stolen vehicle, following a ten-hour chase that began when the suspect refused to comply with a routine traffic stop.
According to multiple sources, the suspect—driving a Citroën—ignored an order to stop at a roadside checkpoint. A quick background check revealed that the car was reported stolen and was the subject of a nationwide alert issued by the national police in El Hajeb.
The incident triggered a major response from local security forces, with all exits from the area closed and an extensive manhunt launched. The search operation started at 9 a.m. and continued until 7 p.m., involving multiple patrol units across the region.
Authorities eventually located the vehicle in the vicinity of Souk Sebt, where they successfully surrounded it and apprehended the suspect. Investigations revealed that the man is a native of Kasba, near Beni Mellal, and has a criminal record involving theft and participation in organized criminal groups.
The suspect has been placed under pre-trial detention at the request of the public prosecutor, pending further investigation to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the possession of the stolen vehicle and to determine any possible links to larger car theft networks.
