Egyptian state-linked media reported on Monday that Egypt has received an Israeli proposal for a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which would pave the way for negotiations towards a permanent cessation of hostilities.
Sources told Egypt’s Al-Qahera News that Egypt, a key mediator in the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, “has passed on the Israeli proposal to Hamas and is awaiting its response as soon as possible,” without specifying the content of the proposal.
