Elements of the police force at the Tangier Med port security zone successfully arrested a Swedish national of South American origin, aged 40, on Saturday, March 22, 2025. The arrest was made based on an international warrant issued by Swedish judicial authorities, suspecting his involvement in international drug trafficking.
The arrest occurred as the suspect was preparing to leave Moroccan territory on a sea voyage bound for a Spanish port. An investigation using Interpol’s databases revealed that he was the subject of a red notice following a request from Swedish judicial authorities.
It is suspected that the Swedish national was involved in the international trafficking of a cocaine shipment seized in a Swedish city during 2023. The suspect has been placed under judicial supervision pending the completion of extradition procedures to Swedish authorities, who have been formally notified of his arrest.
This operation reflects the international security cooperation and the efforts made by Moroccan security services to track and apprehend individuals wanted internationally for cross-border crime.
