Ifrane: Health Delegation Organizes Awareness Sessions on Measles (Bouhmroun)

As part of the efforts made by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and in collaboration with various partners, the Regional Delegation of Health and Social Protection in Ifrane organized a series of awareness and sensitization activities last week. These activities were part of the implementation of the national strategy to catch up on vaccinations for children under 18 years old in the Fez-Meknes region.

The events began with a coordination meeting on Tuesday, March 11, at the headquarters of the Azrou Caidat, chaired by the Caid and the Regional Delegate of Health and Social Protection in Ifrane. The meeting focused on monitoring and evaluating the national vaccination catch-up campaign for children under 18 in the territorial community of Azrou. Attendees included representatives of local authorities, school directors, the National Cooperation Delegation, parents’ associations, as well as representatives of civil society organizations and health professionals.

The meeting concluded with the need to intensify awareness and sensitization efforts, especially in educational institutions experiencing low turnout for the national campaign. Several awareness sessions were scheduled, including:

  • Meeting with Female Religious Guides: On Thursday, March 13, 2025, a meeting was held at the An-Nour Mosque in Azrou, focusing on the epidemiological situation of measles in the region and the role of stakeholders in achieving the desired goals. The session included a presentation on measles, its complications, and prevention methods, emphasizing the importance of vaccination for children under 18 as a preventive measure. The meeting saw positive interaction, with attendees expressing their readiness to cooperate in organizing awareness sessions for parents in mosques across the region.
  • Field Visit to Educational Institutions: On Thursday, March 13, 2025, awareness workshops were organized at the Atlas Preparatory High School and the Mohammed V Qualifying High School in Azrou. The workshops aimed to educate school staff and students about measles and the importance of vaccination, benefiting approximately 150 students.

This initiative received significant engagement from school directors and parents, who actively participated in the vaccination catch-up process starting from Friday, March 14, with the hope of achieving the desired results as soon as possible.
