Security Efforts Lead to the Seizure of 5,812 Smuggled Medicines in Beni Mellal

As part of ongoing security efforts to combat drug smuggling and protect public health, police officers from the Beni Mellal Security Directorate successfully carried out a special operation on the evening of Thursday, March 13. The operation resulted in the seizure of 5,812 units of smuggled medicines and the arrest of three individuals suspected of being involved in the illegal distribution of prohibited pharmaceutical products.

This operation was launched following intelligence monitoring by the National Security’s cyber vigilance services, which identified online advertisements offering smuggled medicines for sale, particularly those marketed as sexual stimulants. Investigations led to the identification of the main suspect, who was apprehended in the rural area of Feryata, near Beni Mellal, in possession of 1,702 smuggled pharmaceutical tablets of various types.

Further security investigations led to the identification of two additional suspects involved in the criminal activity. They were arrested in Casablanca, where authorities found 4,110 more smuggled medical tablets in their possession.

The detainees have been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, aiming to uncover all circumstances surrounding the case and identify potential connections. This operation is part of the broader security efforts to combat drug smuggling and safeguard the health and safety of citizens.
