The repercussions of the dismissal of former Taza Municipality President, Abdelouahed El Massoudi, continue to unfold, as the municipality has recently witnessed the removal of key officials from the urban planning and public works departments.
According to local sources, the current president, Mounir Chentir, from the Istiqlal Party, has dismissed the head of the urban planning department, shortly after removing the head of the public works department. While Chentir justified these decisions as part of a renewed approach to local governance, observers link them to the findings of the General Inspectorate of Territorial Administration’s (IGAT) report, which uncovered irregularities in urban planning management and contract awarding.
The IGAT report previously led to El Massoudi’s suspension by the Governor of the Province, followed by a court ruling ordering his official dismissal. These events continue to cast a shadow over the municipal administration in Taza.
