On the evening of Wednesday, January 8, 2025, Fes News observed one of the most significant humanitarian initiatives launched by the National Cooperation Coordination in Fes as part of the “Warm Winter 2025/2024” campaign. The campaign, which coincided with a wave of freezing cold weather, aimed to provide assistance to those living on the streets. It included a nighttime outreach that started from the Bensouda Shelter for Homeless People, heading to the districts of Bensouda and Agdal.
During the tour, the newspaper closely documented the efforts of field teams who distributed hot meals, blankets, and clothing to protect the homeless from the harsh cold. Social workers also listened to various individual cases, assessed their social and psychological conditions, and worked to provide suitable solutions for their reintegration into society.
In a statement, Dr. Hassan Othmani, Regional Coordinator of National Cooperation in the Fes-Meknes region, confirmed that the campaign was aligned with the royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which aim to protect the rights of vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly and homeless children. Dr. Othmani added that the fourth campaign for the homeless included a range of social services, such as providing direct meals in the streets, distributing blankets and clothing, and encouraging individuals to join shelter centers where comprehensive care is offered.
The campaign resulted in the sheltering of 25 individuals at the Bensouda center, where they received necessary healthcare and psychological support, and their family situations were assessed to explore the possibility of reintegrating them into daily life.
Dr. Othmani also emphasized that this initiative is part of a series of ongoing campaigns throughout the winter season, in collaboration with local and regional authorities, to ensure that aid reaches as many people as possible enduring the hardships of life on the streets.
