TLSContact, the company responsible for managing French visa applications in Morocco, has announced the implementation of new procedures starting tomorrow, Wednesday. These procedures include the use of video call technology to verify the identity of applicants.
According to the company’s announcement, the process will be as follows:
- The applicant fills out the visa application form on the “France-Visas” website.
- The applicant registers on the “TLScontact” website and provides the required information.
- The applicant conducts a video call to present their passport and verify their identity.
- After verification, the candidate receives an email specifying an appointment to visit the center.
These new procedures aim to protect applicants from fraudulent networks and external booking agencies, and to ensure fair and equitable access to appointments for all visa applicants.
These changes have elicited mixed reactions. While some consider it a positive step, others believe it needs further clarification, especially regarding the scheduling of video calls.
Abdelkarim Chafii, Vice President of the Moroccan Consumer Federation, praised this move, considering it will help eliminate intermediaries who were hindering many Moroccans from traveling.
On his part, Zubair Tounsi, a member of the Executive Office of the Moroccan Network for Youth Civil Alliance, pointed out the need to clarify how to deal with emergency cases and the importance of establishing digital systems capable of distinguishing between human and automated bookings.
These changes come in the wake of lengthy discussions about improving visa application procedures and reflect the company’s response to media and societal pressures. However, questions remain about some practical details, such as the 45-day waiting period after the interview, which may pose a challenge for some travelers.
