Local authorities in Tata Province, southern Morocco, have reported in an initial assessment that a natural disaster has occurred following heavy thunderstorms that struck the province and neighboring areas. These severe weather conditions have resulted in the death of four people, while fourteen others remain missing.
The rise in water levels in numerous waterways led to flash floods in some ravines and valleys. As a result, eight homes were swept away in the village of “Wakarda” in the Tamnart commune of Aqqa district.
An official source stated that local authorities have mobilized all relevant services and deployed all necessary human and logistical resources for immediate intervention. These efforts aim to address this exceptional situation, provide assistance to affected residents, break the isolation of the stricken areas, and restore connectivity networks in the region.
Rescue teams continue to work around the clock to search for the missing and provide aid to those affected. Authorities are also urging citizens to exercise caution and adhere to safety instructions during this critical period.
The situation remains fluid as emergency services continue their efforts to mitigate the impact of this natural disaster. Local officials are closely monitoring weather conditions and coordinating relief efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the affected areas.
