The General Directorate of Meteorology in Morocco has announced forecasts of turbulent weather conditions in the kingdom on Friday, August 22, 2024. Here are the highlights of the weather bulletin:
Thunderstorms accompanied locally by hail are expected in the mountainous regions of the Atlas, on their eastern slopes, as well as in the Oriental region and the eastern Rif. Meanwhile, the southeastern and southern parts of the country will experience relatively high temperatures.
The morning and night periods will be characterized by the formation of fairly dense low clouds, with fog banks along the coasts. Local dust storms are also expected in the Oriental region, the southeast, and the southern provinces.
Relatively strong wind gusts will sweep across the central coasts, the southeast of the country, the Oriental region, the Anti-Atlas areas, and the southern provinces. These conditions could affect outdoor activities and visibility in these regions.
Minimum temperatures will range between 24°C and 30°C in the southeast and south of the Saharan provinces. In the Atlas, Rif, Souss region, and the interior plains of the north and center, they will vary from 13°C to 19°C. The rest of the kingdom will experience minimum temperatures between 17°C and 23°C. A drop in temperatures is expected during the day.
Regarding sea conditions, they will be calm to slightly rough on the Mediterranean and in the Strait of Gibraltar. The sea will be slightly rough to rough north of Mehdia, and rough to strong further south.
Given these variable weather conditions, authorities are calling for vigilance, particularly in mountainous and coastal areas. It is recommended to follow weather updates and take necessary precautions, especially for outdoor activities and travel.
