As part of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the throne, Taza Governor Mustapha Maazza oversaw the launch of a series of vital projects aimed at strengthening the infrastructure of the city of Taza in the field of water and liquid sanitation.
The event took place in the presence of heads of security and decentralized services, elected officials, a number of heads of departments and services of the Independent Agency for Water and Electricity Distribution, as well as media representatives.
These projects come at a total cost of 84.23 million dirhams and include:
Strengthening the liquid disinfection network: Strengthening the liquid sanitation network in the city of Taza, including the Wadi Dafali and Wadi Taza collection canal, at a cost of 38.9 million dirhams.
Construction of potable water connection channels: This project includes the extension of the connection channels between the Maghreb reservoir and the East Reservoir RN6 Voillier, at a cost of 21.67 million dirhams.
Rehabilitation and renovation of boreholes: The project includes the rehabilitation and renovation of the Dufali 1, Dufali 2, Jaouna 1 and Anmali boreholes, including hydraulic and electrical installations, at a cost of 12.42 million dirhams.
Renovation of the water distribution network: Rehabilitation and renovation of the potable water distribution network in the city of Taza, at a cost of 11.24 million dirhams.
The Director General of the Independent Agency for Water and Electricity Distribution in Taza also presented a report on the progress of the projects to secure the supply of potable water to the city, which are divided into two main components:
The first part: A project with a total cost of 89 million dirhams, funded by the Ministry of Interior under the National Drinking and Irrigation Water Supply Program 2020-2027, where 78% of the project has been completed, including the construction of 7 reservoirs to increase storage autonomy to 24 hours, and the installation of 30 km of connecting channels.
The second part: A project costing 58 million dirhams, which includes the construction, renovation and equipping of boreholes, the installation of 12 km of connecting channels, and the construction of 3 reservoirs with a total capacity of 900 cubic meters, where 4% of the project has been completed.
The project to improve the efficiency of the water distribution network and save water, which includes the renovation of 87 km of the aging network and the modernization of the remote control system, has reached 18.5% completion at a total cost of 92 million dirhams.
The director general also reviewed the progress of the liquid disinfection project, funded by the Ministry of Interior, the Community of Taza and the Fès Meknès Region Council, at a total cost of 741 million dirhams.
The project includes the renovation of 7.6 km of underground tunnels and the installation of 4 km of canals with a diameter of 315 to 600 mm. 9% of the project, which aims to protect the environment and fight pollution by creating channels to intercept wastewater and divert it to a treatment plant for reuse in irrigation of green spaces, has been completed.
These large-scale projects will contribute significantly to the development of Taza’s infrastructure, enhancing its attractiveness for investments and contributing to the improvement of the city’s social development.
