The Ministries of Hajj, Umrah and Interior in Saudi Arabia have warned citizens and residents in Mecca against harboring or transporting violators of Hajj regulations and instructions without a permit or Hajj visa, stressing that penalties will be applied to violators.
The two ministries explained that anyone caught harboring violators of Hajj regulations, whether citizens or residents, will be punished.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah published on its social media accounts a video clip showing the campaigns of its joint field teams with the Ministry of Interior to seize violators and fraudsters, including promoters of fake Hajj campaigns. The ministry sent a strong message to those wishing to perform the Hajj pilgrimage: “The choice is yours! “The choice is yours: a regular and easy pilgrimage in which you abide by the permit and enjoy the services; or circumvent the regulations and be subject to penalties.”
For its part, the Saudi Ministry of Interior clarified on its social media accounts that the penalty for transporting violators of Hajj regulations and instructions without a permit is a fine, imprisonment, or both. The ministry emphasized the need to abide by Hajj regulations and instructions in order to preserve the security and safety of the pilgrims.
Citizens, residents and visitors who violate Hajj rules and regulations without a permit are subject to severe penalties, including a fine of SAR 10,000, deportation of violating residents to their countries, and banning them from entering the Kingdom for a specific period of time.
For transporters, the penalties include imprisonment for up to 6 months, a fine of up to SAR 50,000, confiscation of the land transportation vehicle by a court order, deportation of the violating transporter if he is an expatriate, and a ban on entering the Kingdom for a limited period of time.
The Ministries of Hajj, Umrah and Interior emphasize that the application of these strict penalties is part of their keenness to ensure that the Hajj season runs in an organized and safe manner, and to provide the best services to the pilgrims, as the two ministries call on everyone to cooperate and abide by Hajj regulations and instructions, in order to preserve the sanctity of this great pilgrimage.
